I hope to never see one of our members in a video like that. Blues, a very touchy subject apparently, but none the less valid. Slow down folks, and maybe we can all talk about this subject again in about 20 years....

The ability to disable one of those systems is a snap. In up in a couple of minutes, you can pull off the console cover, pull out the switch, (that is very much like a brake light switch.) and the driver can now watch and drive.

Installers are now getting customers to sign off a declaration that the safty switch was installed when the car left their lot, it's the only way they're able to prevent law suits for improper installation as well as fines for not putting them in. The owner then goes home, pops the switch out and away he goes...

I have followed many cars with the front dvd player running a movie while the car is speeding down the freeway. I prefer the new design that's out. The passenger can see the movie, but the driver gets stuck watching his GPS screen. It works on the same principle as those blinky plastic, motion novelties.

When there's a will, there's a way, and drivers will eventually over-ride that system as well.

I am not cranky. :D
I have merely seen things from both sides of the "argument" and know that it makes no difference either way.

What a tragedy...and completely preventable

This tragic crash and fatality happened here yesterday morning.

It was in several newspapers today. The rider was wearing a novlety helmet, not suitable for road use.
He was speeding over the bridge and weaving in and out of traffic when he hit a guardrail.

I feel so sad for his family and friends that are left to deal with his loss. It didn't have to happen.

Fear death, and die 1000 times.
Don't fear death, die once.

That doesn't mean go out and be suicidal. I'll admit, I've come close to that 230 km/h mark (it's anout 142 mph). I've had the ninja to about 127mph idicated. But get this, it wasn't where cars would cut in front of me. That still doesn't mean it's right, but there's this thing called common sense, that some people just don't have. And it tells me that doing rediculous speeds around other vehicles is a REALLY bad idea.

Something a lot of people just don't seem to realize, is that you CAN ride balls to the wall, just be smart about it, and don't be afraid to accept the consequences. And be safe about it. Don't go around a blind left hander at WOT, play it safe and slow down a bit.

Instances like that, its way to easy to die and not know you're dead. The painful part is waking up. But, the easy and blissful part is dieing - ask me how I'd know :|

Your body shuts down and passes out before you feel any hurt. If you wake up, you'll know what happened up to a certain point. I can't really say if it hurts after you die and realize you are dead. I imagine you find out what happened though.

Edit- I was qouting the wrong person.

I would like to add that it is true that a meteor could hit you in the head tomorrow and take you out, but reasonable safety precautions do save lives. If your adverse to danger, riding a motorcyle isnt the best idea for ya. At the same time, gearing up and using your brain greatly increases your chances of surviving out there. You can still die, but you want to maximize your chances of not dying.

I dont think that fate is behind the wheel in my life. I gear up and drive in a halfway sane manner.

I could die crossing the busy road near me when I go get the bus. In fact someone did recently.
It doesn't mean I'm not going to cross the road.

Alcohol has got to be one of worst scourges of the world. If I am riding, I never have anything. No glass of wine with dinner.....nothing.

I hope the young man in Adams, who was drunk driving, is never allowed to drive again.
The court are far too lenient and there is still too much drinking and driving.
The consequences are not stiff enough as yet, to be a deterrent.

Many police departments and fire departments are moving away from accident and calling it a vehicular collision or crash. Even our accident reconstruction team has been renamed to our crash unit.

It is felt that for the most part if someone had not done something, the collision would not have happened. If you are doing the right thing and someone hits you, it is there fault. While it was not done with malice, it was still not an 'acciden't. The driver was not paying attention.

They have it broken down into detail. If you hit a tire fragment which sends you into another car, the tirefragment shredding ment that someone was not maintaing their vehicle properly. While your crash was a result of someones actions and you and the other driver could not have stopped it, it was still not an 'accident'.

No one is saying that anyone means to do it. That is why we have an entire set of road rage SOPs. Malice is a diffrent action.

Everyone has a very valid point of view. You can't avoid it or prevent it but you try to enjoy the moment(s) and come home safely. I didn't know this person too well but it still was tough to read and it broke my heart.

Just ride safely everyone.
