Sure that pesky contract you sign in most states that says if you refuse to take it they take your license doesn't mean a thing... maybe, just maybe, you don't get charged for DD but you have to go through some assbackwards hoops to get that license back. Of course if they have any way of nailing you they're nailing you to the cross. Any chance of a slap on the wrist or a lenient sentence goes out the window.

Bearing in mind you were drinking there could be parts of the story that didn't make it into your post. Like others here, it feels like some of the story doesn't quite click.
Either way, you got busted doing something illegal (underage drinking, public intoxication) and were with some people doing stupid stuff. Imagine if that was your car, or heaven-forbid motorcycle being wacked.
Be thankful you got off as lucky as you did, eat the six months with no license and find a diversion that wont get you in trouble.
Oh yeah, find new friends....
Finally, recently at the end of a criminal attorneys presentation, he took questions from the crowd and the subject of DUI whether to blow or not to blow came up. All the paths led to the same conclusion, if you're caught you're pretty much screwed!
He said if you try to fight the system too hard and lose your DL can be suspended twice, once for the traffic offense and then again for criminal charges (tagged on after the first one expires).

Meh...
Ultimately, I realize that, yes I broke the law, and yes, I will have to be punished for it. Apparently, I'm the only one that ever breaks any laws, or complains when they get caught.
I really, honest to god, did pick up that cup and it just did happen to have a little bit of beer foam in the bottom. I wouldn't make details like that up just to save face on an internet message board.
And it's not so much that I get much joy from picking up other people's trash, it's more so than some "O Ring" was not considerate enough to throw it away themselves, so I'm doing a small favor for myself and the community at large everytime I pick up some errant scrap.
Additionally, as i already stated, I was in no way, shape or form involved in any vandalizing. Actually, the guy involved who hit the car with the branch was 24, as I later learned. I haven't seem him since (no big loss, really) but, I heard that he was charged with vandalism.
Torxim: that was exactly exactly what I was thinking. I was not given a breathalyzer nor any other test. However, my father made it clear that if I did attempt to contest the charge, he would testify against me in court.
Honestly, if you think that I'm this incredibly irresponsible, reckless teenager, by all means, you're welcome to the opinion. I will concede a degree of whining in my initial post. I simply feel that it's incredibly unfair to punish in me in such a way for something that did not involve any vehicles. [/u]

No- it makes total sense. What else were they going to do to you that would be certain to effect you?
They fine you- your parents probably pay it and you just get yelled at a bit mroe
They put you in jail- you miss school, or starting college and that's extra unwarranted punishment for a smaller offense
They take away your PRIVILEDGE to drive (remember, it's not a right) and YOU are the main one to feel it.

yep, it sucks. I guess you wont be doing that again, right?
You learned your lesson. At least its towards the end, and not the beginning of the riding season.
But dont fight it. Just take your punishment without complaint, and dont do that stupid crap again.
Obviously that was the right punishment, because its really punishing you instead of just being some fine you wont think twice about.
