Pokemon Ad?
I saw an ad for some Pokemon something or other. May I just ask, what does Pokemon have to do with motorcycling?

What do the majority of the ads have to do with motorcycling? Student loan ads, dating service ads (complete with scantily clad women). Oh, maybe that's male biker related. Most of the ads I notice are at best only remotely related to our world. What was your suggestion again?
Cheers,

Remove the pokemon ad. I do see quite a bit of related ads, like right now, insurance. Alot of times I see an ad related to motorcycles. But seeing a pokemon ad is just weird, surely whoever deals with the advertising people can pick and choose what types of ads are shown?

I haven't seen the pokemon ad yet myself, it must be only showing in the area (city) are you in but I'll look for it. Since it's pokemon, can it be that bad?
There is a poetry contest ad running as well which is weird to see, but it's whatever the advertisers want to run that goes. I do watch out for annoying ads and remove them when I do see them. Or if a member tells me about an annoying ad I'll remove it as well. I don't approve every ad as there are hundreds of different ads running on TMW each month and I trust my advertising companies to serve ads that won't ruin my site. Sometimes the advertising companies trust their advertisers too much and they get an ad running in their network they wouldn't normally approve.
It's like a big package deal, there are not enough motorcycle related only ads so they throw in other stuff as well.
Mike.

Meh.
I just thought it was really weird to see pokemon. None of the other ads popped out as much as this one. Maybe it was something subconscience that snapped my attention to the new Pokemon Movie starring Mew and his Search for the Ultimate somethingsomething.

I am very disapointed Seca Girl. Not only do I own a Seca XJ650RJ myself but it's very dishartening to see a member enjoy the site and actively go out of their way to not support it AND take advantage of it by blocking any income to keep the site up and running for others by using Adbock and No Script and Firefox.Seca Girl wrote:This site has adverts?

Boo! Thanks for ruining my morning at 7am. F- for you.
You won't find many friends here being a leech like that. Sorry if I'm harsh but you really should think about supporting things you like on the net or they'll be gone (or not free) one day.
Mike.
P.S. On one website, they tell it really well:
In the end, it’s up to you if you want to continue blocking ads. I personally recommend against it, and not just for Ars. Don’t visit the sites that use egregious advertising. But support the sites that you like. I seriously doubt you’d do you day job for free, so why expect it of others?

I do agree, advertising the Pokemon movie on a motorcycle website might not be the best traget market...DieMonkeys wrote:Meh.

Yes, deleting the cookies to see more ads work. But I don't expect anyone (including you) to do that at all.NorthernPete wrote:Mike, for what we get out of this site, I'll delete my cookies twice a day and re visit, will ya get more advertising moolah that way? It's hard to see a new member come on and specificly mention they joined (as they liked the site) but also they care little about supporting it either. I and many volunteer staff (23 of them) and thousands of members put a lot of hard work into this to make it such a great place to be so it's heart-breaking for me to read that.
I think when visitors and members learn more about Total Motorcycle they, like you, accept that sometimes not blocking and seeing those ads are a tiny price to pay for such a wonderfully friendly and useful place on the net. The internet is filled with too much garbage and too little great resource sites.
Thanks for making me smile.

Mike.
