90 weight gear oil for my chain?

#1 Unread post by norsseman »

Have made up my mind to use 90 weight oil for my chain. Is it
gear oil that I should buy? What brand do you recommend?

A Canadian Adventure tour site for the KLR650 says that they get
3 times the mileage out of 90 weight oil than other types of chain
lube. Also my manual recommends 90 weight oil.

get any 80 90 brand outhere if it is just being used for chain lube, Maby you want to go with 80 90 EP EP = extreme pressure, this is used mostly in hypoid gearsets it the rear ends of cars/trucks, The additive just sticks to the metal better and wont be rubbed off as easily
