bike won't start =(

update:

I spent an hour wrenching on the bike after work today. I took out the spark plugs and tested them, they are both sparking properly.

I then drained the float bowls and there was a decent amount of fuel in each. I tested each fuel line going to the petcock on the bike and fuel flows freely through them. The problem arises when I tried to let fuel flow through the float bowls with the petcock on prime. No fuel flowed

I tried starting the bike again, and there was maybe 2 drops of fuel in each float bowl. This makes me think it's either a vacuum issue, a blockage issue of fuel getting to the carb, or even worse, a carb jet issue (seeing as the bike wouldn't start even when there was fuel in the bowls...

anyone have ideas of which it could be?

unfortunately I work from 8-5.30 and have an hour commute so it looks like i'm going to have to have a shop tow it and do the repair as I have a weekend ride planned next weekend unless there is a quick fix

When your petcock is on prime the fuel flows from the tank, but it doesn't flow into the bowls? What do your floats look like?

So I'm enjoying the last few weeks of having my bike before I sell it, and I decided to go for a ride after work yesterday.

Don't ever talk about selling your bike, when you're near it. They can hear you and will start having problems.

I sold my bike last weekend and just got a call from the purchaser, asking why it won't start. Seems the starter clutch is shot and now he's looking at huge $$$ to get it repaired. Poor guy didn't even get a single ride in on her. I feel terrible, but not bad enough to buy it back.

The starter clutch was ok
The starter chain was broken the throttle cable snaped and when the shop opened it up the crank bearings and the cam chain were toast as well
I should have waited another week before bying it
total cost of repairs $2300.00

Is that Honda CB700SC ( or 750?) Nighthawk your current bike, seca?
That is the same type i bought so lovingly a couple months ago, but have yet to get reliable riding out of it with its incessant starting, stalling, dying issues!
How is yours riding? Love these bikes, if i can get mine running reliably steady and well!
