I know of a few guys in my club who are covered. I could have checked before I went but since all I have is liability it wouldn't have mattered.DivideOverflow wrote:I'm 99% sure that no insurance companies will cover you while you are at the track. That is outside of their coverage protection.
If you want to get another bike for the track, I might recommend you get a smaller bike. You can get a cheap ninja 500, or gs500, or even go into the ninja 250 class. It will still give you great track experience, you can ride the cheap bike to its limits without worrying too much about dumping it, and you will learn a ton!!
Call your company and make sure that they understand that you won't be racing, you might be surprised at some of their answers!
lucky you!Mintbread wrote:My lovely wife just bought me a track day pass for my birthday.![]()
Insurance or not I am riding out to the track, wringing my bikes neck all day and riding home. If I crash the bike or blow it up, too bad. It could happen anywhere but I would much rather come off heading towards a gravel trap that a gutter.
yeah... you're right. that's what full coverage insurance is for.Kal wrote:
You're bike is worth more than you can afford to repair/replace if left to your own devices
It is a completely different style of riding. On a track it is all out, balls to the wall stuff. No heading into a corner at 9/10ths just in case there is a brick in the middle of the road or a car in your lane. It is flat out, as fast as you can go.The Crimson Rider® wrote: regarding not caring whether im insured or not on the tracks... i'll probably have that attitude too if i ever get bored of the canyons.

In essence here you are saying that you don't have the skill to ride the bike to its limit on the track and don't have the wallet to repair it if you drop it but it's okay...
Because all the other poor schmucks that pay insurance premiums will pay for your accident damage.
However here is the critical part Verm - you are choosing to put yourself in harms way when you ride on the track and you are not taking responsibility for that.
Thats the diffenece when Minty is going to a track day, he is putting himself in harms way and he is taking responsibility for that.
If you choose to do something then, as am adult man, you should take responsibilty for the consequences - good and bad. It's pretty basic stuff Verm, but it has a lot to do with why you are seen as younger than you are and why members here get angry with you.
Now on a post over in the new riders section you were talking about dropping $1750 on a suspension setup, which because you are afraid to take your bike to the edge you are not going to need.
So why not drop that money on a track bike you can afford to throw down the road a few times while learning your craft.
When you start taking responsibility then you will be a good man Verm - it's why I waste my time on you - but I am guessing that right now you'll probably not ready and will come up with another excuse.
