No that wasn't intentional LOL. I like his bike and my dream bike is the smaller vstar. But he is more into the sport bikes or sport/touring bikes.

As soon as I am good enough we will hook up and ride. I am hoping that by the time I take my msf course and gain more confidence I will be good to go for a good ride. (plus hubby won't let me venture to far without my msf under my belt)

I will let ya know when hubby says I am good to go and when I feel that I am. Don't wanna make a fool outta myself

have a great one and ride safe

Went out again today without hubby. Nope wasn't a fluke. I am shifting just fine all the way through fourth gear WOOHOO!!!. I can't wait til hubby
gets home so I can show him. Hopefully I will do fine with him watching me. The little bit of confidence I notoced goes a long way. Didn't get nervous with more cars out today and did just fine. Before I know it we will be hooking up with crimson and riding.

Have a great one and ride safe

good job!

Ya.. I have been riding my ninja 250 and shifting is a breeeeeeeeze... Lot better than I expected

viewtopic.php?t=17696&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

I was shifting fine on my first ride.. It just came naturally..

What I have noticed on the 250 ( 1995 model) I can ride/accelerate fairly good on 6th gear even when I am as slow as 35 Mph. dont get me wrong its not a perfect accel, some time I have to use a bit of clutch support. and of course I do down shift when I need to accel quickly....

I get to 1st to 3rd so quick... and usually ride on 4 or 5 th once I hit 35. but if its a flat land.. I go all the way to 6 th and at 40-45 MPH.

well looks like you got it all down.. Now work on the counter steering. Helps alot..
:D

It sounds like you guys/gals are practicing well. It's good to see deedee getting teh hang so quickly. The clutch thing sounds like it's coming along fine. I also noticed that you seem to be getting more confidence when you are by yourself. That's probably because you are more relaxed without having anyone there to constantly dorrect you. You are smart enough to realize that you are making mistakes and have managed to correct them yourself. That is a great confidence booster. Keep it up.

silentx.... you said you get 1-3 quickly. That's good, but right up to 6th at 40-45 mph. Not good, my friend. You want to keep your RPM's within the power band. That way you always are able to accellerate quickly, or use effective engine braking if needed. If you are at low RPM's and suddenly get into a situation requiring some jam, you won't have it on hand. You'll have to downshift first, then try to evade the danger and if you need the throttle, you won't have it as your bike will not respond quickly. Also, if you have very low RPM's and brake quickly, there is the danger of stalling out, and if you are busy evading something, you could very easily fall over. And you don't want that.
