that's the same thing i read about the 750. so it just depends on who reviews it.

also... the 675 is heavier than the 750.

i already mentioned several points on what makes the gixxer750 better than the daytona 675 to me.

the same good points that sev mentioned about 675 was the same thing said about the 750 by a different test rider.


so comparing things that are not subjective... the gixxer750 wins.


im not saying my bike is the best. the RR literbikes are better.

of course... all of this is talking about racetrack riding and not plain street riding.

I refer the gentleman above to the video of a THIRTEEN YEAROLD YZF 750 nearly having a new Gixxer Thou round Cadwell Park.

Best is entirely, and I do mean, entirely relative.

By the standards of Fuel consumption for example pretty much all the Race Repilca Bikes are pants.

I wouldn't even want to speculate on the best bike for Bhp per £ or $ spent.

It's all relative, so sit down and stop crying foul.

did the same rider use both the old YZF750 and the new gixxer?

is it the 1st time he rode both bikes?

did he have enough practice on both bikes before setting the lap time comparison? ...he might not have had enough time to get to know the new gixxer.

and didn't you say he did 1½ secs slower on the old 750? ...that's a pretty considerable gap in racing.

Well lets see, the article I'm quoting from is 9 riders across all 6 bikes. And the total average winner was the Daytona.

Second in the video I believe that he makes a lap on his Gixxer thou, then takes a couple of test laps on the other 3 - $3000 used bikes and then a couple of real laps. He came within 1 or 2 seconds on that old YZF.

It might, "be a pretty considerable gap." But when you consider it's 250cc and 13 years difference between the two bikes. When you think about the difference in engineering between then and now that's a LOT closer.

For clarification - same rider, same day. I believe he owned the thou, and even if he didn't he spent aprox the same amount of time on each bike - which is to say a couple of test laps, then they started timing. Took his best lap for each bike.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Well lets see - he is a qualified racer as well as Motor journalist - what do you think?

And yes you are quite right the 750 was an entire second and half slower. But it also had THIRTEEN years of raod use on it.

You aren't getting it are you?

For the cost of the Gixxer the rider could buy SIX 750's so which bike is best value? Best is ENTIRELY relative Verm. Always has been, always will be - no matter what in life we are talking about.

what level of racing?

british superbike? WSBK? MotoGP?

i still think he didn't have enough time on the new gixxer... that's why he didn't do so well in compasion to the old 750. he could have been more comfortable on the old 750.

also, i forgot to ask... what kind of track was it tested? is the track worthy of pro-level superbike class racing?

It's cute watching you scramble to try to keep your preconcieved notions straight in your head. I can almost hear the world crumbling.

He bought that 750 and rode it the same day that's it. He had the same amount of prep time on each bike being new to both of them. BWAHAHAHAHA
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

well then im having doubts on his skill. he should have done a wider gap on laptimes on both bikes. perhaps that's just as fast as he can go so he wasn't able to extract all the new gixxer had.

anyway... im just specualting here. i don't really know the test rider you mentioned.

also, im still waiting for answers on my previous post...

1. what level of a racer the test rider was?
2. is the testing track worthy of a pro-level superbike class race?

i believe those are 2 valid questions that will shed more light to the argument.
