Painting a tank is rather simple, but will still take practice before it looks decent. Its easiest if you remove the tank from the bike, drain all the gas, take off the feul valve, filler cap and anything else. Then give a light sanding. After that you can start to spray. Your coats are going to be very thin, you might not even notice them going on the first two coats, but by the thirs you should start getting some color. If you lay it on to thick it will run, and that is almost impossible to fix. So its best just to take your time and use many, many light coats and give them time to dry in between.

Good luck, and remember be patient.

I'm going to try this method when I get control of my right hand back.

Ive heard of this method, but also that it is a whole lot of work for less than stellar results (people also like to use rustoleum). They say that just using a cheap spray with care will get you better results and save alot of time and frustration. Although this is a bike tank so the work will be significantly less perhaps this is not such a bad idea. I would be very interested to see your results.

Yeah, it's mainly to paint the Vision for the 25 year rally in Colorado. Nice, cheap and easy to do in an apt over the winter
