Help! NO KEY!

I bet one of you can help me with this problem!

I just got a parts bike, A 1980 Honda CM400T. No key! I am sure there is an easy way to take care of this problem. There is apparently a code on the bike for the key. Does anyone know about this? Do you know where the code would be on this bike? Thanks!

Can you contact your local automotive motor association (CAA/AMA) and ask them for the locksmiths they use? These guys typically are able to come in and make some sort of ignition impression (wax or such) and then can cut a key for your bike.

Locksmith maybe, but its probably cheaper just to buy a new ignition switch that does have a key

I agree, and then make a spare key. Yes, I speak from experience.

Actually a good locksmith can make a key if you bring them the ignition for less than $10.

really? i didn't know that... i was told to use as a last resort because of how expensive it was.. cool.

Your prices may vary, but my friend got a key cut from a local locksmith for $10. The only thing the locksmith needed was the ignition.

This forum is great. So much knowledge being shared. Thanks for all the information. At least it sounds better than I thought. I think I will put in some phone calls to local locksmiths and see if I can get someone to work with me on this. Thanks to all!
