Tires for '78 CB400TII - bias or ply???

#1 Unread post by Andy G »

I remember someone saying I could only buy one "type" of tire for my '78 CB400TII Hawk...but I don't remember WHAT they said.

Something about being able to run ONLY bias-ply? Or was it something different?

Need to know, looking for new tires...

Thanks!

I don't think your bike requires any kind of special tires, other than being the correct size. I advise you to get a matched set of tires. I put a set of Bridgestone S11s on my GL 500 last year. Good tire and not too expensive.

I doubt if you have the right rims for radial tires. Bias ply is what came on it and I would stick to that.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

Dude the S11 is a bias-ply tire.

Was replying to the OP, not in reference to the S11.

I like that rim/tire combo in that picture. Would look good on the KZ...hmm... On second thought, getting new rims would probably cost more than I paid for the bike.

Those tires do look nice though.
