The only way my bike would set off a car alarm is if I ran it into the freakin car! lol I've really gotta drill out my baffles, but to do that I've gotta get a job where I don't leave at 5:45 in the morning. Neighbors don't like me enough as it is with stock pipes!

Yeah, when my Vision's exhaust is in a tunnel or between buildings it sounds so much meaner than it is. I sometimes wonder how loud it would be riding a big cruiser with straight pipes in those placesm1a1dvr wrote:Mine has been known to set off alarms when I blip the throttle in the city. The sound just seems to echo off of the buildings and gets really loud.
Yeah I set them off sometimes. I get a grin on my face when I do.
Also, I agree with the "in the city" thing. my bike echos off all the buildings and makes for a much meaner sound. If people say something I just explain is because of the buildings...just something you have to deal with in city life.

When I had my Super Glide I had Vance & Hines Straight Shots without the baffles, and when the NYC and NJ summertime tourists were up on the weekends I use to set off almost every car alarm I rode past.
Talk about being loud and echoing off buildings, most of the buildings are 3 stories tall and only about 50 feet from one side of the street to the other

That's fantastic! I was reading this post yesterday and realized I needed to take the bike out for a short ride since I decided not to winterize it.We can talk about that decision later. I had never set an alarm into its cycle but yesterday there was a car parked two spots down and while I warming up the bike it started to chirp. I had to keep going. . . I kept hitting the throttle until I finally got the alarm to go full blast. It was definitely awesome. I did however get right out of there after I set it off, into the cold, cold, cold wind. No matter how many layers I had on it didn't matter. BTW, I have Vance & Hines slashcuts on my 05 M50.

well, doesn't take a wizard to realize that car alarms don't go on and on until the end of time, spockofblong wrote:
1. most car alarms only sequence 3 times and then shut off sorry to rain on your parade on that one.

my vtx has no problems setting off alarms, even though i try (almost all of the time) to be a model biker and behave.
however, there are times when i'll tearass down a street in first leaving car horns blaring, dogs barking, children crying, and old people thinking the armageddon near.
