And they probably learned their skills on smaller bikes...Ninja Geoff wrote: Except for when the big bikes are ridden by people who know how to put the power and handling of them to good use...
Does a 150cc moped qualify as a "first bike"?

Uh.. looking at this from a different perspective here.... if it is 150cc it's not a moped. In the majority of states anything that is over 50cc's and goes faster than 30mph is legally a motorcycle and you need a motorcycle license to ride. You might want to hurry up and take the MSF and get your license before you get pulled over.

I hope he's not doing 60 on the side of the road..Lion_Lady wrote:Will that moped keep up with traffic on a regular roadway, or do you keep to the far side of the lane and hope you don't get run over?

As to the original question: Once you take the MSF, if you've got the shifting thing down than I'd say you'd be fine on a midrange bike. Having ridden Veda's scooter, the scooters are a lot more squirrely than a bike will be, but once you adjust to the feel and get used to shifting the rest will be the same.

It looks like you have been according to this Texas department of public safety page: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/mopedinfo.htmicearrowx wrote:i was under the impression that anything under 250cc all you had to have was a normal class c drivers licence, if you're right i've been riding illegally....i think you're right about the MSF class though.
Might wanna keep that part to yourself when you talk to the DMV.

The MSF course is fun and a great way to transition from the scooter.
