Which motorcycle to get?

One hell of a bike, if it were lighter I would have gotten that instead of the vstrom. damned stop and go commuting traffic!

OMG... That FJR is one AWESOME bike

FAST - 145hp is no joke, that thing is like a bullet. So smooth and quiet too, I was doing 90mph without even breaking a sweat, and it didnt even feel like it.

ABS brakes - no explanation needed, works great. It's nice to just be able to mash either brake and not worry about skidding out

Power adjustable windshield is a godsend. Wind against my face/body is pretty much gone. On my current cruiser, one of the things I didn't like was fighting the wind on the freeway. I would end up getting neck strains because of it.

Comfort - Sitting position on the FJR is pretty much upright. Unlike a sportbike, I am not bent forward, which is important to me because my lower back tends to hurt after a while. The seats are comfortable, and height adjustable too.

Versatility/Storage - The FJR is like having 2 bikes in one package. If I leave the bags on, it's a sport touring bike, take 'em off, and I've got a sportbike.

Only negative I can think of is the overall cost of the bike. The FJR is about $1500 more than the M109R. It will also cost about $1000/yr to insure

Now what does a cop want to have to do with speed? 90 mph? On public roads? Ok, now I'll get off of my ... Oh, and yeah, for touring I vote the FJR...

Go with the '07 Yamaha FJR-1300. I've had three Suzukis and found the quality lacking. Also found them hard to work on.
Now ride a '04 Yamaha. Best bike I've owned.

Mr IBJanky,, Sit down, I have to talk to you, spending over $10K is a lot of money for any bike. If ur rich and you have the money, spend it, but if ur not rich I would suggest to either keep the V Star or trade it up for maybe the V Star 1100 for maybe a $2000 to $3000 difference. The mistake many people make is they finance a new bike thats over $10K for 48 or 60 months, then they find out that bike doesn't last that long without some type of major repair thats needed. I mean its tough making a $400 a month payment on a bike then at the same time its broken down needing a $3000 engine repair. Now you know what im getting at? I would say never buy any bike that you can't afford to pay off in 1 year or less. No bike is made and designed to last for over 4 years or 20K miles. There is a $1000 rebate on the 07 Yamaha V Star 1100, but it expires the end of Feb 07, you can walk out the door with one for $6900.

Im just offering my past experiences from owning many bikes in the past, im now at a system now that every year I buy a new bike or a new ATV, one year I buy a new bike, the next year I buy a new ATV, and since the bike and the ATV is less than 2 years old I get a high trade in value and walk out with a new one paying off the difference in less than one year. I always own a newer bike with less miles and less likely to break down, and when I get tired and bored with the bike, in a short time im riding a new, differnt bike. To me, my way is the best way, you guys may disagree, but I know its a fact you guys that have been riding the same bike for 4 years are bored and tired of ur bike and you wish you had a new bike.

wow another uninspiring untruthful post. why isnt this guy banned from here yet with all the false information. There are thousands of bikes that are more than 4 years old and have over 20k miles. my bike is 11 years old and almost has 20k miles. granted I am not the first owner of this bike but its still running. as for making payments your an idiot. Repairs are covered under the warranty which for the normal person the warranty is basically the length of time needed to pay off the finance. Though I wont finance if I dont have to thats the way my van worked out. The warranty lasted the same length of time as my payments though I paid it off early so i guess it lasted longer than my payments lol. You dont have to be rich to get a 10k bike so wherever you heard that load of crap i dont know. The bike I want is 15k so your saying im rich cause I can go out and buy one right now? Hell no im not rich I just know how to budget. btw a 10k bike financed at 60 months is less than $100/month so where you got $400/month at is another mystery. I know a ton of guys who love the bike they have and wouldnt trade it in for the world. I dont want the bike I have because I eventually want to get that ducati but until I learn the ropes im stuck with what I got. I dont wish to buy a new bike every year or even every 4 years thats just plain stupid. Hell I have had my van for 5 years now and have no inkling to go buy a new vehicle because I have no need for nor a want for a new vehicle right now.
