Which motorcycle to get?

warranty??? whats that???? YOU know and I know that warranty isn't worth the paper its written on! My last new bike was less than 2 weeks old and was covered under warranty and I had to pay some moron $115 to tighten up a battery terminal! Then one month after that I had to pay $80 for them to replace a 35 cents fuse! Then shortly after that I had to pay another $80 for them to replace 2 spark plugs! Then the biggest insult is I had to pay $150 for them to repair a recall problem that should have been fixed free of charge and all they did to fix it is wrap up the wiring harness with some electrical tape, and after that the cheap electrical tape they used melted, came loose and I had to tape it back up myself!

I have YET to pay for anything that is covered under a waranty. btw spark plugs are not under warranty nor fuses. Maybe next time read the warranty paper before bringing it in for work. General wear items like that are NEVER covered under warranty. they cant charge you in america for recall work as thats against the law.

the spark plugs should not have been worn out after 700 miles and the fuses were blowing cause of the wiring harness was being pinched by the key switch, that was under the recall and they said the loose battery terminal was my fault cause thats concidered a normal maintanince proceedure that should have done by me and its in the operator manual that battery terminals should be checked. BUT!!! I watched the guy at the dealership assemble my new bike and I watched him installing the battery! Why didn't HE tighten up the battery terminal? He said he did tighten it but it came loose later and thats not his fault!

I have a 25 year ol bike with over 90k miles on it. Sure it's needed a few things done to it but other than wearable things the only major repair was replacing a stator as the early 80's yamaha stators were crap and burned up.

My grandfather's goldwing is 12 years old and has over 150k miles on it. It's needed oil changes, brake pad replacements, hose replacements (he replaces all hoses every 5 years), fluid changes, tire changes, spark plig changes and other such things. He's done valve adjustments every so often but it's all been strictly maintenance.

Wait, my point should be: Motof150 is a troll. He's never owned a bike or he would have half an idea of what he's talking about. If there was ever a shop that charged $150 to tighten a battery bolt, he should have had half a brain to never go there again or likely it would have gone out of buiness before he could. He's more full of "poo poo" than a porta potty at a chili cook off.

I have a feeling that some of what he says is true but dressed up to get attention. How can it not? It just seems so....stupid.

I thought you were smart enough to fix all of these problems yourself. I mean you're a self-proclaimed genius, why are you paying people for such simple fixes?

*edit* My friend has a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 400 that has seen over 60000km and done more long haul trips then you can imagine and it's still running strong. It needs a little electrical work, but other then that is in fine shape.

Tell that to my buddy whose 12 year old Concours just broke 90k miles.

Man... I guess I should just throw away my FZ. It's 5 years old and has 17k miles on it. It's gonna fail on me at anytime.
