oh yeah? i'll bet any skilled scooterist could ride circles around you in... uh, a parking lot probably.

and high-end scooters are, uh, usually much cheaper than high-end motorcycles

and scooters are more ironic than motorcycles AND get better mileage

so there!

lol

Honda Rebel = 80mpg
High end Vespa = 80mpg

so whats you gotta say about the gas mileage now :D. High end to high end well I cant argue but high end scooter does waht 110mph and a high end cycle will do what 220mph? Though price/mph I think the scooter wins.

in all honesty I have nothing against a scooter rider and I wave at them when going down the road :D. They are just another cyclist

seems to me that riding is riding.
You are right, riding is riding. I own the most expensive motorcycle HD makes, I bought it cause I like touring and they put the high performance work into it at the factory. I've owned a number of bikes and happen to like the way my bike sits/feels. It's true we make fun of the metric cruisers that are out there trying to copy HD because they are trying to copy HD. If I had the money I'd buy one of every bike cause I like to ride.

This topic never dies does it? The old, why does it matter thread, with the explaination why it doesn't matter, and the why it does. And as is usual, the creator of the thread is a short poster who seems to have dropped out of the discussion.

Everybody makes great bikes, and they meet different purposes. Until you spend some time in the saddle and figure out what suits you, you are still just learning. To have a strong opinion likely means you have found the thing that suits you well.

As a side note, I have met MANY Harley riders who are not all that "stuck up" about Harleys. They are nice guys who bought what they wanted, but they respect my Kaw, and ride with guys on Japanese bikes - even "Harley" clones. This is always a stronger "theoretical" discussion than one I've seen in real life. I mean sure, I've had people not wave to me, or heard a Harley pointed conversation or two, but I think the divide has always been over played here. Most guys I meet on bikes are cool. Hey, I know I am. LOL

Go ride

MotoF150 wrote:you are judged by other riders on the make and type of bike you own and ride, there are girlly bikes, nerd bikes, beginner bikes, scoots. The guy that spent $20K for his bike gets upset, ( and he has a right to be upset ) that some poser on a $5K rice burner rides in the same lane with him or passes him up. Thats an insult! Its like ur rubbing his nose in it. Also, the guy that owns a $20K bike demands respect from the guy that owns the $5K bike.
i also drive a bmw, guess you and your truck need to stay outta my lane.
i think REAL harley riders,or any other REAL riders would have more against some middle aged business man that spent 20k on his bike and rides it once every blue moon than they would a rider who really gets out and rides his motorcycle, no matter what he's riding. it sure seems like the hd company really likes rubs though doesn't it?

MotoF150 wrote:Mr ofblong, Im just being very honest! Im honest, that doesn't mean I agree with everything I say! I think its wrong for anybody to think they are better than everybody else cause they own a more expensive bike, but it happens and people do think that way even when I dissagree with it. You see, that guy thinks he can afford or he took a bigger risk paying 4 times more for a bike than you did and he don't wanta feel that he wasted his hard earned money if he sees you passing him on ur cheap rice burner bike, its you guys that are picking on him. I mean he expects and demands respect cause of the bike he owns and he wants you to think that you wish you owned a bike like his. I say, be nice, be friendly, show him some respect.
this guy you speak of sounds like a complete insecure jackass and someone who is not at all deserving of any riders respect.
spending a bunch of money on a bike isn't about risk, where do you get this stuff?
seriously, you're hilarious.
