LIGHT-SABRE DUEL PUTS TWO IN HOSPITAL

TWO Star Wars fans are in a critical condition in hospital after duelling with lightsabres made by filling fluorescent light tubes with petrol.

The pair - a man aged 20 and a girl of 17 - are believed to have been filming a mock fight when one of the devices exploded in woodland on Sunday.

They were rushed to West Herts Hospital before being transferred to the specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, in Essex.

Police say a third person present at the incident was questioned.

The second you said florescent tube. I thought, "dear God no." Followed shortly by, "filled with Petrol?? They deserve to get hurt!"

My friend filmed us with broomsticks and then added the light effects afterwards... it isn't tough to hear him explain it. A lot safer too.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

After reading this I must confess to my own mock duel which ended in stitches...it was halloween we went past the dollar store and saw the fun plastic swords/pikes/axes and bought a whole bunch of them. Course put 6 college student guys with an assortment of plastic weaponry there is going to be a fight....22 stiches later (combined for all 6 so not bad!)

This happened just a few miles south of where I live. I have to say there is no evidence of a local congenital condition.

Well, first off... swinging a long, narrow glass chamber quickly without breaking it is a touchy thing to do. Trying to stop it (or contact it) with something else mid travel is a whole other thing.

But... why filled with petrol?
