Excellent Trip owen! Love the photos and the story. :D

Glad to see a poor ol' GS650 keep up with the GS dual-sport big guys. I bet those dirt bike like mods you put on your GS helped out a bit too.

Not that it mattered on your trip, but your bikes weight (748lbs) + your body weight was I believe was close to your GS650's GVWR. Take into account 20+ year old suspension and chassis you need to becareful.

Thanks for posting it all. You should start a TMW motorcycle journal. :D

Actually Mike, the weight that I listed was total weight - bike with all my stuff, full fluids and me, so I was ok as far as the GVWR is concerned. I still could have taken a passenger and been under max load (I still had 132kg of capacity)

Nice Ride report Owen!

Love the Pics too 8)

I must admit I'm confused....you changed your plans because of the 31-32 degree temp?

Funny, we ride in 40+C but it aint that much fun....so 30-35C is Not a Problem.
