Textile Jacket Information Requested

#1 Unread post by Skel3tor1 »

Are there any other comparable manufacturers that make a textile jacket akin to the Joe Rocket Ballastic series? To include the armor inside of it and being mesh for the higher temperatures that I'll be experiencing this summer?

I wore my leather jacket through summer last year and I think this year I'm going to try to grab an armored textile jacket. I was fine as long as the bike was moving but sitting at intersections when it's almost 100 degrees and with the high humidity here in GA -- I'd like to be a little more comfortable this year.

Thanks in advance for your response,

I have this:

Armor in the elbows and shoulders, plus padding on the back. It's very comfortable.

do you mean a convertable jacket? i think the JRnalter ego is textile, but then parts of that zip off to reveal mesh when its gets hotter.

Tour Master makes on like this too. Actually so does Power Trip, look here:

if you're just wanting a regular textile jacket, well there are thousands of those out there.

Textile by itself isn't cooler than leather. It depends on color (light is cooler than dark), style and vents (leather jackets can have vents to).

Mesh on the other hand is typically cooler but offers a bit less protection. I like the cortech gx air mesh jacket b/c it has armor and leather pads in key areas.

Not wanting to spend 300+ on a leather jacket with vents. I have leather, it's just not vented.

Textile is generally cheaper and I do want vents. Most of the joe rocket material out there is still relatively expensive and even though I'll most likely lean towards purchasing a JR jacket for summer use, I was wondering if there was anything else out there that would compare to their ballistic style.

I do not want to lose safety or protection by going to something that isn't armored or at least going to last a few feet on the road. So that rules out a good bit of stuff out there.

I have to admit that is the first time I have heard JR gear mentioned as expensive.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

Anyone know anything about the Hooligan mesh jackets from Icon? I want the decay one, but I haven't heard much either way about them.
I'm starting a petition to cull narrowminded dull people - be afraid Peter, be very afraid....

Under $200 is actually cheap in the world of gear. The roadcrafter textile suit that I want costs $700.

you'd have a hard time find a true textile motorcycle jacket that doesnt have some type of armor. Where are you looking exactly? Maybe thats the problem.
