How Many Riders Have Dropped There First Bike?

#1 Unread post by clgrant »

It seems like many posters infer that every single person who learned how to ride motorcycles after the MSF course dropped there first bikes. Is this true?

Anyone out there who never dropped there bike?

That thread really just asks people who dropped there bikes for how they did it.

So according to that thread every single person drops there bike.

I'd like to hear from riders who never dropped their bikes if there are such people.
Thanks

I really hope that's not the case, I have taken my brand new C50 around the block a few times, never got close to dropping but I really hope I don't.

I did just install the Cobra Freeway bars atleast.

Might want to throw in all those riders who have never told a lie just to keep things even. :D

I've never dropped *my* bike :D

I did drop the first bike I ever rode. My girlfriend's mom's Sportster. I dropped it standing up in a gravel parking lot. I wasn't really paying attention, it started to tip, and I wasn't stopping it. I kinda lowered it to the ground.

Everyone drops a bike eventually.

MANY times, you can do so with no damage whatsoever. The time I dropped mine while duckwalking out of a parking space and forgot to unlock the handle bars, no damage at all. It started to go over and I tried to stop it and it sort of gently just ended up on it's side.

The ONLY people who have never dropped a bike are the ones who never ride. Like, new riders who have had their bikes for 6 months. Or riders who have been riding for 20 years, but only ride 30 miles on the weekends. Those folks may have never dropped a bike.

But for people who genuinely RIDE and put on serious miles, you're gonna drop it. You'll forget to unlock the bars like I did. Or you'll leave on a disc lock. Or you'll be on a steep hill doing u-turn. Or you'll put your foot in an oil patch or gravel. SOMETHING will happen unexpectedly and you'll go, "Oh crap!" ... and down it goes.

I have the proud distinction to have only dropped half the bikes I've owned. I'm not counting dirt bikes.

I didn't drop my first bike (harley sportster) and I haven't yet dropped my ninja. Hope to keep it that way. I ride a lot more than 30 miles on the weekend. ;)

#5, though... *sigh* Poor lil' Loki.
