Got my endorsement today
I successfully passed both of my tests today and received my endorsement. I Haven't taken a MSF course because they're booked through July. I know it's strongly recommended, but I'm not sure if I'm going to take it or not. I'm going to continue learning on my friends Suzuki Katana 600 until I get my own bike. I need the license to test drive at our local dealership. I'm looking at a honda Shadow 750, Yamaha VStar 600 (they don't have any in my price range right now), and a Kawasaki Vulcan 750.

I'm learning myself as well. May take the MSF next year, but right now, they're all booked until October, and I can't wait that long. Private schools are almost $400, so it's self-taught all the way.
Pretty silly that there are so few classes that if you don't book in February, you are screwed for the year.

thats pretty dam expensive. is it the "MSF"? same contents and training?blues2cruise wrote:Congrats on the endorsement. If you can't get into a course, then try to read Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.
As an aside...in Canada we have to pay our way...the government does not sponsor rider training. We pay about $800.-$1,000. CDN for the course.
Wow, where are you in Canada that you have to pay that much? I'm in Toronto and the course here (equivalent to MSF, one day theory, two day riding) is $425 CDN.blues2cruise wrote:Congrats on the endorsement. If you can't get into a course, then try to read Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.

EDIT: Just saw Vancouver as your location. That's nuts... didn't know it was that expensive there.

In British Columbia< ICBC calls the shots as to what a course should include. It is 30 hours. 10 hours theory, 10 hours parking lot, 10 hours on the road.
It is not mandatory to take a class, but you have a better chance of passing your road test and you get a small discount for insurnace if you take the course.

It sounds like more schools and/or instructors are needed.storysunfolding wrote:Blues-
That's what I've always wished m/c courses were here and that they were required... but I guess with current bike demands and the 15 hour MSF always booked and not able to take the current load that it's never going to happen.
