how long before taking my 1st real long distance ride?

When I worked at the GSA I took the bike in as well. 1 hour 15 minutes by metro. Or 25 minutes with free parking by motorcycle... No brainer.

In my opinion this is the larger issue over just fatique. You can always stop and stretch your legs, but when your in the middle of hundreds of cars (especially when most of them are acting stupid) that's when your ability starts to show. 8 hrs on quiet lonely roads is much better then 30 minutes in downtown chicago.

Last time I was in chicago I saw sports bikers (morons more like it) riding in that pull over lane thingy during rush hour traffic. All I could think of is one of these days some impatient out of towner is gonna pull out and nail them. Course im not used to taking 2 hours to move 3 miles.

Everyone does that here, you see trucks, vans, full size to compact cars pulling through the shoulder... I always laugh when they find out there is a cop up ahead on the shoulder and they are stuck with no where to go. But that is a rare thing to see, only with vehicle accidents and the like.

Then again most are from mexico and they won't end up at the court anyways...
