Tank Bags: Hot or Not

#1 Unread post by TKDean »

I'm 21 and planing to start ridding as soon as i get back to the states. Ive been asking a lot of questions on this forum and find it very helpful.

I'm posting this poll simply out of curiosity. Id like to see the bike community's stand on this very vain topic.

So do tank bags on a sports bike look cool? Id also like to know your ages just to see what different generations think.

Thanks for humoring me.

Motorcycles as a whole are cool. Whether they've got tankbags or not doesn't really make much of a difference, IMHO.

(Although ok, I'll vote yes, if only because luggage of any sort on a bike makes it look more like, i dunno, it's going on an adventure.)

36 incidentally.

Doesn't matter if it is cool or not. Tank bags just work. Very handy to carry stuff you want easy access to.

Old enough to know better. 51.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

I voted yes, I'm 20.

They are a much better idea than a backpack as far as I'm concerned. Though they can't hold as much without being cumbersome. I'd gladly rock a tail and tank bag over a backpack any day. Nothing excesivly big (more due to concern about wind, not looks) but big enough to hold a few days worth of clothes. Actually, saddle bags would be nice too. And a set of clip ons and rearsets. Yeah, I want to make my bike more "uncomfortable" and mini-bag it at the same time.

Tank bags are cool. I'm 51 also.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Always wear a helmet, eye protection, and protective clothing. Never ride under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

You get them because you need them. If you need storage, then they are more convenent than your pockets. If picked correctly, also look good but not better than a bike without.

I think it depends on the bike. A Vstrom looks better the more you add to it. Tank bag, panniers, passenger seat bag, side bags, top case, tent strapped to top case

I just put one of these on the Duck. It's expandable and has a removable map holder:

A tank bag is essential to touring.....36 y.o.....at least for a little while longer.
