If that doesn't work, you can always us a drill slightly larger than the bolt, and then re-thread the hole. I've had to do that several times on some of my older bikes.

To rethread a hole, use a tap:

If that doesn't work you'll need a new part

Try an ebay

If that doesn't work you'll need to order a new part

Try powersportspro.com

If that doesn't work you'll need a new bike

Try a dealer

Or you could use a heli-coil kit to repair the stripped out thread. I've used extractors, easy-outs, the method I described, and drilling out for heli-coil. As I said before, good luck.

Thanks everyone. After purchasing several drill bits, I finally got the right sized bit and EZ out and out the broken screw came. I think that I was pretty lucky. Any more drilling and I would have been at the frame. Exhaust mounted footpegs and brake pedal mounted. And the rear brake works. First mechanical job in my over 40 years.

Again thanks

you seem to know absolutely nothing based on your posts. Easy outs are the best and easiest way to get bolts out. Ive used them on locktightened (im talking red loctite) and have removed the bolts just fine. I have only ever had 1 break out of the probably thousand times I have used one. Heli-coils are worthless, unless of course thats all you have cause they are better than nothing lol, but Keen serts are an awesome thing. You should NEVER, as stated above, use different size drill bits for anything (unless your using say a 2" drill bit cause then you drill a pilot hole for that). If you cant get the bolt out just get the right size bit for the keensert/heli-coil that you are using.

You keep saying good luck but pft its very simple and pretty hard to screw up unless you have no mechanical ability whatsoever.

Oh and sometimes you dont even need an easy out. I always use a left hand drill bit first cause many times the drill bit will screw the screw/bolt out for you :D.

If you have broken thousands of bolts off then how you have only had one ez-out break on you is surprising to me.

PS use heat to make red Loctite release.

ah yes forgot to mention that little tidbit about heat. as for only breaking 1 off is because I told a certain someone NOT to touch something that I would be back with something to have found they touched it and made things worse. Lets just say i was extremely pissed off cause now I had to take half the machine apart so I could get the one part off with the broken screw in it and drill it out from the bottom to keensert it. However, barring no one interferes, you can take out thousands of bolts with an easy out and never break one.

I want to know how you broke thousands of bolts?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
