Yeah i dont think i would want anyone to get fired but they shouldnt be able to get away with it.

Maybe a forklock alarm is not such a bad idea.

Well, to each their own, but if this happened to me, I would definitely want to know who it was. Then, if management wouldn't take the initiative, I'd be provoking a nasty confrontation, "official" style: face to face meeting with me, my boss, them, their boss, rep from HR, rep from Security. They would look me in the eye and explain why the f*** they felt free to touch my bike. Then I'd look their boss and the HR rep in the eye and insist on identifying disciplinary action right then and there. Their boss would hear my p.o.v. that people that act like that obviously couldn't be trusted with any significant job-related responsibility. It would be understood that I'd already contacted the local police dept (re: attempted motor vehicle theft), and the next step would be the local papers (we're near a small city, there are two dailies, it's easy to play them off against each other ) If none of that worked, there would be continuous memos, e-mails, and escalation from me until something happened..... Management will always want to sweep this stuff under the carpet. You have to make not dealing with it less convenient for them than dealing with it.

I can be a nasty SOB when I'm crossed.

Obviously I don't know your situation, but my hunch is someone's trying to bully you. They're not gonna stop unless they 1) get bored with you and turn to someone else, or 2) you cause them to seriously regret their actions.

Shrug, I would just explain to them that I REALLY don't like them pulling a stupid stunt like that. It's not just a vehicle, but a part of my life. Next time, you might press charges for attempted theft or something stupid like that.

I've had to move guys bikes at work, sometimes they park behind me so I cannot get out at lunch. I always put them back exactly where I found them, then park somewhere else when I get back though.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Unless you work at a bike shop like Sev does I'd suggest you follow up and do at least something about what happened (find out what your report to the supervisor did). What was the point of it - were they trying to be funny (like they know you) or just moving your bike for other reasons? Either way, do something... plus the disc lock. I'd do the lock too but I'd be annoyed enough to be a little more reactive than just adding the lock. ( But then I can be a little more nasty like jstark & johnj) Definitely NOT a laughing matter for me.
Ya right, there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

It was not steering locked but from now on i guess im going to keep the steering lock on at work.

That kinda worries me as if they try and move it with the lock on it is more likely to get dropped.

I think there crazy for doing this espically as there are obviously cameras pointing right at it (two of them).

Think about it dude, if you let them get away with it they're going to try something again. I'd go with the hostile workplace angle because management has to address the problem and it places you in the most favorable position.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

You wouldn't allow this be done to your car, how is this different with a bike?

Make management responsible for such inappropriate action!
