I am not mechanical, my knowledge of motors is limited so I have what might be a stupid question. How big is the Suzuki Boulevard S40 motor compared to say the Vulcan 500 or Honda Shadow VLX? Most motors are listed as cc, the S40 is 40ci. Thanks
40ci = ~655cc

Only Suzuki switched to CI and it was to appeal to the American Cruiser Market. It's something they can understand a little better.
Harley motors are in CC because they aren't built in America anymore...

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

That was a bad joke... though lots of the production is apparently exported to countries where it costs less. Then parts are imported and assembled here.warnerwh wrote:Where are Harley engines built?

Not just Suzuki, Honda too. (V45 Magna) and Yamaha (102ci Road Star) And at the same time HD giving engine sizes in CC. Seems ironic. I am talking about which method the companies choose to use.
And Harley engines are too builtaaaaaaaaassembled in the USA. (BT-Wisc,XL-KC)
At least Kawasaki and Victory are staying true to their traditions.

True, but the Honda is from 1982-1986. And they have since abandoned the naming convention. I suspect that it had something to do with the problems of importing bikes into the states.slimcolo wrote:Not just Suzuki, Honda too.
