Oh sure, now you're trying to get the poor guy knocked off... lol. I can just see him leaving for a solo weekend ride, she's loosened the pinch bolts, axle, triple-tree, popped the clip off the master link, put some WD40 onto the brake pads...

I think the right solution has been hit on by Shorts and Scoutmedic, involve your "Partner" in the process. Get her to look at the bike with you, tell her why that particular bike is suitable. Look at other bikes, used and new, ask for her input, always sound positive. You never know, she may decide that a newer, more reliable bike would be the better choice in making her feel better.

If she's still dead set against it, you have to decide where to go from there. Is your marriage a small enough trade off for a bike? Because it will always come between the two of you.

Thanks for all the posts guys... the single guys are easy to pick out...

I am trying to get her involved as much as possible, shes just got it in her mind that motorcycles are deathtraps...

I wanted her to take the safety class with me as an (awwwww) together thing that we must do sometimes... but she said she would never actually get her license so it didnt make sense to fork out the money for it... unfortunately, I found out that now the class waives all DMV tests so technically you get your license by passing the class, that would have been a good in... she has a couple girlfriends that ride, her dad has a nice Harley (classic midlife crisis purchase), and we know a couple people together who ride...

i think i just need to let her see me on the bike with my Joe Rocket jacket, leather chaps, and twinkle in my ummm eye... anddd Ive said too much... lol... thanks again for the suggestions...

all in all, my steps have been to 1) take the safety course (had never been a bike before that) 2) by all protective gear with a promise to wear it all the time 3) pick a nice beginner bike 4) increase my life insurance 5) I guess we just need to talk, ugh...

Just buy her a helmet before you get the bike...one with "pretty" colors. That'll let her know that she can ride with you and be apart of it too.

The problem is every woman is different. So how much advice we can give you on these forums is obviously limited.

Just tell her how you feel and see how she feels. If it comes down to the marriage or the motorcycle that's a choice you'd have to make.

My fiance understands I want to ride, she isn't 100% comfortable with it, but she wants to support me.

The best you may be able to get is indifference which is what I have. She'll come shopping with me for gear, she even wants to take photos of us standing next to it for our wedding. But she isn't "happy" about it.

Good luck to you.

I choose motorcycle! Although, my choice is similar to a wife...I love her, I ride her, and she'll be the death of me. :)

Advice to the single guys out there: Find out if they like bikes early on. My first date with my wife was on a then-new '90 Ninja. She was a keeper
