Helmet mirror ???

#1 Unread post by superskip »

One of the things I don't like about mc'ing is the lack of vision to the rear. Even though I installed bar end mirrors it still takes a fair amount of neck twist to thoroughly check the 6 o'clock.

I want a helmet with an integral mirror. Is that too much to ask?

I found this :

http://www.reevu.com/index.asp

but they're in the UK, I'm in the US.

Anyone have actual experience with this sort of thing. Seems like it would be a good idea ?

I don't know if it works, but if it does it would be great. If you are interesting they will send you to US. I have bought several things from US and I live in Greece, with no problem.

wow that looks sweet :D

That's something I'd have to try out first though before buying it. And I'm not taking any international flights in the upcoming future so I'll have to wait! :)

Pull a trucker move and change your lane position? I mostly ride on the side of my lane and thus have no problem seeing cages behind me. I rarely have issues seeing other bikes behind me too.

Scuderia West in San Francisco carries these..or at least used to. Give them a call at 415-621-7223. Ask for Amy.

That's alot to take in, IMHO. Def need to get used to having view like
that always in/above your line of sight. I wonder if you could "turn it off" at night? Would be nice to not have lights, from behind, in my eyes.

Mmm, interesting idea, but as said above, would take some time dealing with the information coming into view.

Personally, I'd say adjust your mirrors better to give you the view behind you. You should be doing head checks anyway for anything further out to your sides/blindspot. This is coming from someone with 2 fused cervical vertibrae...ie, limited ROM

it still takes a fair amount of neck twist to thoroughly check...
Maybe I'm naive or out-of-touch, but I never thought it was a big deal to turn my head in order to look to the side. I always thought it was the least I could to to help preserve my own skin. Way back in the day, my driving instructor actually MADE us turn our heads and check over our shoulder before changing lanes.

Enh, here's two cents. What do I know?

The over the shoulder check seems to be a fast dying art these days.
Always ask why.
