I have been reading this topic trying to find help with convincing my wife that while riding a bike is dangerous, it can still be done safely and that just because I go out that doesn't mean that I'm going to die a horrible death. Doesn't mean that won't happen either. I have appreciated all of the advice from those that have come before. My wife last night told me that she was tired of being mad at me because of this and that while she doesn't agree with it, she won't stand in the way. Yeah!!!
P.S. I still have to increase my life insurance because and I quote "If you get yourself killed, I want to be able to party for the rest of my life!"

Good attitude actually. I didn't get life insurance when I started riding, but would of if I was still married. It's really the only responsible thing to do.
I did get supplimental accident medical. It will cover the gap between my regular medical coverage and my normal salary if I do have an accident. As much as I hate spending money on insurance, I'm hoping to never have to use it.

OP, you're almost my twin. I've been married 5 years, have a 2 year old and only recently convinced my wife it would be okay for me to try the basic riding course. I think I succeeded as I explained the limitations I would put on myself when riding for the first 6 months to a year.
As she started to understand that I would be nervous and cautious she slowly came around.
