Yup, I gave it up. Only because I got a 'walk in' spot at the beginning of August. I took my friend who was interested in riding to the facility (where i forfeited my spot, to increase the chances of him getting in). I gave him a ride there, so I couldn't leave until i was sure that he got in.
Well turns out that only 4 (would've been 5 with me) of the registered people showed up... and there just happened to be 8 'walk ins'... LOL. Everyone got in! Funny thing is that, this is exactly what happened when I "walked in" back in Aug... 8 registered riders showed up, and there were "4 walk ins" (my self included)... but it was raining when i took the course. Today however, it's a beautiful day to ride! Just a weird coincidence I guess.

To me there was no money lost. For us here in IL they have state provided MSF courses, which only require a $20 refundable deposit to get in. I could request a refund... but I think the class was well worth my $20 donation to the program.
I was able to stop by on Sunday to watch my friend on the range. The class seemed so much faster paced when I was in it... but from watching his class, it looks real slow paced when you're spectating. He has one more weekend to go, before he completes the class.

I managed to get into the class at the last minute because another lady was signed up and she couldn't take it the weekend it was scheduled (had hurt her foot somehow). The company that was offering the course wouldn't give her a refund on short notice, but allowed her to transfer her spot to another person. She advertised her space for half price on craigslist and I just happened to see it and got lucky. I wasn't planning to take the course till next spring.
