You'd think it was, but in terms of motorcycles it seems like the standard. Think Harley for a moment. The keep making bikes that look like they are 50 or 60 years old, but with EFI, ABS, throttle by wire, and etc. That is modern, yet still classic.

Classic style can keep showing up, but modern technology can't be ignored.

I can only think of three bikes that are true enough to their original form to be classic. (Dpner,Ural, and Royal Enfield) Regardless of what they call them.
Well four forgot about CJ (Chinese copy of Ural copy of BMW)

I like the MG!!. Rumours are Honda is coming out with a CB750 "modern classic", there's pictures floating around on the net. There are a lot of retro bikes on the roads in Japan that we don't get here mostly because they're smaller, like in the 400cc range.

True, but would you really want an "old classic"? The way I see it these "modern classics" combine the best of both worlds. To me, the essence of motorcycles are the old Brit bikes but they where by-and-large high maintnance. The most exhilarating bike to ride I've owned was a Norton Commando but it was like an F14 fighter, one hour of riding and 30 hours of maintenance. I've never seen a modern bike with an oil leak, something I can't say for the classics.

The most trouble free bike I've ever owned is the new Triumph Bonnie I currently own and the worst by a long shot is the Ural I currently have.
