dr.bar,

I bought my 4 year old grandson one of those 49cc quads for his 4th birthday. It has a govenor screw on it so you can control the speeds. We have it set at about 5-7 MPH and will increase it as he gets older. Also purchased a motocross helmet and gloves...the quad was only 300$ and he loves it.

My daughter would have my left ball if I did that...

With that said, If I can afford it when he's a bit older...

Thats so true. As luck would have it my grandson was always going to the monster truck shows and I guess they race quads there so he was really wanting one and my dauighter was okay given the ability to modify the speed. And thank goodness for that as it took a few funny moments until he learned and understood the slow down before you turn theory. Reminded me of the Rowan and Martin laughin show when the guy with the german helmet and the tricycle would fall over :) . My grandson would get up and say "cool" because thats what the quad runner guys would do in the races. 5-7 MPH is still fast enough to injure.
