Shorts wrote:Hi Blues, I was wondering how things were going for you. You're doing really nice things with the photography :righton: I love the shots on the ranch - beautiful!

Riding will still be there for you when you're ready for it. Things will come together. Enjoy the photo shooting.
Thanks, Shorts. I am so glad I am still able to do a bit of photography. It's the only hobby/activity I can do out of all the ones I would normally do.
Yes, you are right....one of these days I will be able to hike, bicycle and motorcycle again.

I will be starting active rehab next week. It's a strengthening program to help me progress to be able to get to work and bring me back to my former fitness and strength and help regain energy and stamina.

The pics on the ranch are from the fall roundup of wild horses. I asked permission to hang out and take photos. Given that is was on first nations land, I thought I better ask. The bossman was a bit reluctant at first, but he let me stay and asked for a few photos to be sent to him.

I will send him my photoshow on a CD, as well as several prints. It's a small price to pay for being allowed to be there.

I would like to be able to go back next year.

That image is from this afternoon. I walked to the insurance store and renewed the insurance policy for my bike. :)

It was finally a dry, sunny afternoon so I went for a short ride. This was the first ride out since the crash last April and I have to admit I felt some trepidation about it. I was amazed at how easily I rode. I had expected to be fumbling like a noob....but the only real difference I noticed was my cornering. I wasn't as confident as a year ago. That will come back with some more time in the saddle.

Doc met me for a portion of the ride and then we went for a coffee break. I was starting to feel achy, so we took a rest with apple pie and hot spiced cider.
After that we went our separate ways. When I got home my shoulder and hip were aching. I also felt so tired that I had to have a nap.

I guess you could say that I have to build up my stamina.

I rode 20km.

The image below is one of my new boots. I finally found some riding boots that fit, that were reasonably priced, and are waterproof. Incidentally, they kept my feet warm, too. That was an unexpected bonus.

I did have one issue keep cropping up today. When I come to a stop and I put the bike into first.....it either doesn't go into first or it pops back into neutral. Several times when I started to go, it wouldn't....because it was in neutral. I'll have to pay closer attention the next time out.
All in all....for the first time out since my crash, I did ok.

Thank you so much everyone. The weekend is forecasted to be dry and somewhat sunny. I will try a bit more then.

I have all this expensive gear after all that needs to put to good use. :)

Hey blues! Welcome home! The road has been waiting.

That's great news. A little petrol in the blood to get you going and you'll be fit as a fiddle in no time. Looking forward to more of your rangey, old-style posts.

cheers

Richard
