Thanks everyone for your encouragement.
I've found that it's best not to disclose the cause of my injuries to "civilians".
They only have negative and hysterical things to say about riding and what I need now is comfort.
I'm finally able to get some sleep with this separated shoulder.
It doesn't even hurt much unless I move it. That's the trick... not moving it when I'm sleeping.
Moving it hurts a lot. I have it in a sling during the day.
The ER doc said it should heal in 6 to 8 weeks, but I'm going to see an Orthapedic doctor next week just to get a second opinion.
I'm hoping Honda calls me soon with the estimate on my bike.
As far as I could tell it only needed a new foot peg and rear brake lever.
I'm not going to fix the cosmetic stuff.
I'm feeling better over all.
Thanks again

Yeah, I came off a bicycle and tore my shoulder up (13years on, it still gives me aches & pains, especially in cold weathers). Hope you're better soon.Flesher wrote:LoL ... i found that very amusing. Glad to hear you are doing better, take care and don't dwell on this too much, these things happen, and not just on motorcycles eitherI've found that it's best not to disclose the cause of my injuries to "civilians".

"poo poo" happens. Sometimes we work out why it happens and don't do it again.

looks like I missed this thread. Sorry to hear about your injuries Flipper. Get well soon -- that's the most important thing.
I live in North Hollywood, so we are almost neighbours. If you need help with your bike or anything, I'd be glad to. I recently had to repair a broken shifter on mine after a failed stoppie. Cost me less than $5.

Re: I went down :(
I totally feel your pain now...just a few days after you locked up your front brake and went down, I was riding and a sedan pulled out from a side road right in front of me. I manage to lock it up at 25-30 mph, and down I went. Jerk in the car paused long enough to see my lying there, and he took off.Flipper wrote:Yesterday I locked up my front tire and went down. I was following a van and suddenly It seemed I was right on top of him.
I emergency braked at about 25mph and the front wheel locked up. Before I knew it I was on the street, pinned under my bike.
...
I had to do the whole paramedic ER thing![]()
Hurt like a mother at first, and a guy that stopped to help wouldn't let me move (smart man.) I wound up doing the whole paramedic and ER thing, too. EMTs cut my pants up to my hips on the street, the taped me to a back board; got to the ER and they cut ALL my clothes off. And it was COLD in there.
I was lucky, just a few scrapes from the fabric of my gear rubbing on skin, and some wicked, wicked bruises. My knee stull hurts like a mudder most of the time so I expect I'm going back to see a doc... but overall, very lucky.
My poor SV...$3400 in damages.
It sucks to know I'm 90% at fault for locking the brake, but the dude in the car...100% at fault. (Makes sense to me...) All we can do is learn from it, get back on the bikes, and practice some more.

Re: I went down :(
It is amazing how fast you can go down at low speeds. A blue hair pulled out in front of me in a parking lot once. I grabbed the brakes a bit too fast (rookie back then), and next thing I knew I was on the ground.Flipper wrote:Yesterday I locked up my front tire and went down...
Similar thing about 18 months ago, but this time I was able to keep off the pavement.
Good luck with the injuries. Percacet (or whatever they gave you) is your friend... But can be a friend that outstays his welcome. No sense being in pain, but be careful with it.

Thumper,
So sorry about your accident. glad you weren't seriously hurt.
sounds like your bike got pretty beat up though.
I'm feeling much better now. My bruising is all gone and my shoulder is feeling about 80% better.
I expect to pick up my bike next week and.......ride it home?
I'm going to be a little nervous, but it's only about a 6 mile ride.
I just got my break pedal and foot peg fixed.
The scratches are going to stay.
Here are some pictures.

Oh yeah, and my right shoulder.
