Helmets
Helmets
I'm in the process of deciding what kind of helmet to purchase. I have pretty much decided on a full face but was wondering if there were any thoughts about brand and fibreglass vs poly carbonate. Welcome your thoughts.

It was my understanding (read: deep, dark, distant memory) the fibre ones have a longer shelf life, and aren't susceptable to problems cause by solvents found in sticker glue.jonnythan wrote:The shell material really doesn't matter a bit.
(something like 4-5 years as opposed to a poly carbs 2-3 years - either way 1 impact voids the remainder of the lifespan on both though, which you should expect to happen)
I could however be very, very wrong, so please do some research rather than taking what I've written here as fact

The shell material is not the limiting factor in shelf life - the EPS foam is.Nibblet99 wrote:It was my understanding (read: deep, dark, distant memory) the fibre ones have a longer shelf life, and aren't susceptable to problems cause by solvents found in sticker glue.jonnythan wrote:The shell material really doesn't matter a bit.

ABS and other plastics should not be damaged by sticker glue, either.
