Well, don't know anything about shops/junkyards in KY, so I'm gonna recommend eBay, sometimes you can find smokin deals on there. As far as fairings for 310, where at? That's an amazing price... I've seen bikes totalled out for SOLELY cosmetic damage because fairings are so expensive.
As far as going after the guy who wrecked it, have at 'em... If he hasn't at least tried to make right I'd go after him in small claims court (up to 10K I believe). Plus then you don't need a lawyer.

What did the repair shop guy say you needed to make it ridable? to me it looks like gauges, subframe, exhaust, headlight, and I'm not sure whether or not KY req's turn signals. Possibly new clipons too.

Yeah that is pretty much what I need. I beleive it was on ebay, if not I just googled the bike and it led me to a few sights.. There is one on ebay
for 425.00 +65.00. The is still better then Factory price. But I did find one on a sight for 310.00. But thanks for all the advice and Hooefully we will be back on the road before summer is out...

Having crashed my second bike, had it repaired, then discovered a minor repair that got missed when it was inspected (tail light bracket broken)- I'm not sure that I'd trust ANY amount of repair on that twice wrecked motorcycle to be 100% safe for the road.

It sucks that you still owe money on the bike, but I strongly recommend that you just bite the bullet and junk that bike. Maybe there are some salvageable parts that could be ebay'd but I'm not sure it would be worth the time and effort (or risk) of repairing.

What I'm hearing is that you did not have comprehensive insurance on a motorcycle that you'd taken out a loan on?

My mother-in-law, bought the bike for my husband, her son, so it is in her name, and that is what she had put on it..Yeah that really sucks. Because we would love to be riding...

First off, he will not be riding anytime soon. When I got t-boned off my CB650, it took a full two years before I could even think about walking semi-properly and only with the aid of a cane and four years before I was able to do so without the support of a cane or crutch. Like your hubby, I suffered a compound fracture of my right tib and fib, although I was lucky not to have such a huge gap between my bones.

Secondly, judging from the damage and the impact area, your beloved bike is a write off. The damage is just too massive and it will more then likely cost more to repair then to replace. I know this is heart breaking, believe me I was more upset of having my beloved CB630 and the best courier bike I ever owned written off as a total wreak then I was about my leg being shattered.

As much as I hate to say it, now is not the time to be worrying about the bike, but rather you and he should be focusing on his healing and the rehab that is yet to come. You both have a long road ahead of you and in time will be riding again.

One last thing, I am not sure if you have a group such as AIM (Association of Injured Motorcyclist) in your part of the world, but check around. If you do, contact them as they will give you both the support you will need and be able to assist you in seeking compensation.

Thanks for the advice, he is already walking without assostance, he went to a great Physical Therapy, that has really helped. But I appreciate all the advice and hopefully things will get better for us......And we are defintely taking care of him. We spent one month to the date and I was there the whole time. And I havent been able to work because I have medical training and I have been taking care of him. So Thanks for everything...

First thank God he is alive and able to live a normal life.

Then on to the bike. There are a number of web sites that sell OEM parts that also have diagrams of the bikes to help with the names of the parts you want. One such site is at http://www.bikebandit.com/oem-parts where you select your bike mfg then the model and year.

For parts ebay can help but you depend on others selling exactly the part you want, when it does show up for auction and then winning the auction for it.
