A Battery WTF????????

#1 Unread post by ceemes »

Today I went to pull the battery out of the Sabre to recharge it and found an odd electrical lead that plugs directly into the number three cell from the left and feeds into some electrical box just under the saddle.

Now I know for a fact that was not there when I replaced the battery two years ago and can only guess that when the shop replaced my blown CDI, they put it in. Anyone have an idea of what it could be and what it does and do I really need it? As it is, I am charging up an older battery to use as a jump platform.
Always ask why.

Just run a wire or 2 or 3 from on open cell on the bike battery into the camera... that should get something happening on the pic front.

I can't wrap my head around the idea behind running a lead from one cell in a battery to anywhere or what it supposed to accomplish. I'm afraid you'll have to wait until someone more electrically talented comes along.

But I am curious about all this now.....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

my Venture has a lead just like that - apparantly it's for the battery idiot light (battery sensor wire)

Got the silly thing off today and replaced the battery, it looks like some sort of probe, maybe for a battery tender or as Big B says, a sensor for the battery idiot light. Either way, she is up and running again and as soon as my laundry is finished, I am off for a ride......damn, knew I should of done my laundry on Saturday or Sunday......sigh, back to work tomorrow and need clean clothes..

Roll on May 14th, I pick up my new jacket....woohoo
