dragging pegs
In turns and corners I keep either dragging the pegs or my heel while leaning, am I leaning too far for my bike or is there something different I should be doing? I ride a 2007 v-star 650 custom.

hmmmm
what do you expect when you ride something that resembles and rides like a hippopotamus with sticks shoved in its ears.
Maybe you should up-grade to a "proper bike" assuming that grinding alloy chunks off ya pegs gets ya wet and gooey in the fork !!!

Position your foot so while you're riding regularly your heel is further up the peg and further from the ground. ( the rider of a standard or a sportbike without forward controls should ride with the balls of his feet on the pegs). Also, try leaning your upper body forward and in. So your inside arm will be bent, your outside arm will be straighter. A slight body justification can create noticeable additional cornering clearance.
However, given the forum, I'm willing to bet the bike leans more than you do. Make sure you at least turn with your body in line with the motorcycle.

Re: dragging pegs
I want to try one out, I'm a really new rider and would love to try either a standard or a sportbike sometime.shane-o wrote: Maybe you should up-grade to a "proper bike" assuming that grinding alloy chunks off ya pegs gets ya wet and gooey in the fork !!!

I tried that and it works but it is difficult to get a forward lean going with the forward controls. I guess I'll keep trying and eventually I'll get betterstorysunfolding wrote:

Then work on bending your turnside arm and getting your face closer to the turnside mirror. Your outside arm should be almost straight, but both still loose. Well I was just saying, he could have the cruiser for cruising good times and a sporty for the "peg grinding good times "
And as you say, having more than one bike is not a bad thing
