Modular helmet with flip down sun visor

My Nolan and Schuberth both have it. The Nolan has sort of a cheesy external one, while the Schuberth has a nice internal one that I have in two different shades. I couldn't live without it. That feature is what's kept me from buying an Arai. Schuberth isn't selling in the U.S. anymore but I like it so much that when I need a new one, I'll order from Europe and just live with the fact that it isn't DOT certified.

Im pretty happy with my helmet, arai corsair rx-7, but what got me interested in the modular was the integrated slide down sunshield. I wear glasses and being able to leave the sunglasses behind and have something built into the helmet that can be used as needed is a big attraction.

+1 on the scorpion Exo 1000 then.

Does anyone know which one has the darkest flip down shield? I tried on the SyMax from HJC and the shield was pretty light. Too light for it to work for me.

I have the VOX it was cheap ($125) and has the internal sun glass. I have had both Bieffie (Mod 4)and Nolan (N-100) modular helmets before and the vox is a lot more comfortable and a lot quieter. Also dosen't strangle me at hiway speeds on an un faired bike.

When you check out helmets with built in sun visors, make sure they come down far enough for you. I liked the idea of the exo-1000 but it seems heavier than my 700, and the visor doesn't come down enough to fully protect my eyes.

Luckily I have plenty of storage on the strom for a few extra shields.

I live in the Philippines and I also use Shoei RF1000 but not a tinted one because they might mistaken me for a criminal or something. I love it.

I bought a tinted shield for my HJC CL-Max last fall and thought it was too dark. They have only one tinted shield and riding from sunlight into shade I couldn't see the road surface clear enough and was always flippung the shield up to see better. My ageing eyes could be part of the equation.

Noticed the RF-1000 has both a light tint and a dark tint available so I dusted off my RF-1000 and bought a light tint shield and it's just right for me as far as darkness of the shield goes. It's a much better helmet than the CL-Max, I just liked the flip face for convenience with eyeglasses running about locally and taking it off and on all day.

I had a SyMax prior to the RF-1000 that was damaged when my bike was totalled back in 03 but I never had a tinted shield for it so don't know if it's the same darkness as the CL-Max shield I have.

You can get a replacement flip down shield for the EXO1000. They come in various colors/shades.

Are any of the integrated shields polarized??? I like the idea of having the tinted shield in the helmet, but I won't give up my Polarized sunglasses if the shield isn't polarized.

Just got my HJC IS-16. Full face with integrated sunshield. This seems to be a 'corrected' version of the FS-10. On the previous model, the shield only came down about 1/3 of the way. On the IS-16, there are three positions, the first being about the same as the FS-10's, the middle about 1/2 way down, and the last completely covers the opening.

This replaces my H.D. modular (manufactured by HJC) which did it's job back in April saving this noob's grey matter. I just didn't care for the fit of the modular. The HJ-16 is WAY more comfortable that the H.D. was and it fits perfectly with my eyeglasses on. (So polarized sunglasses are still usable when it is extra bright out or driving into the sun)
