I have heard plenty about T-Boost kits so I splurged and bought one ($40), installation took just over half an hour and it worked the 1st time out... Great bang for the buck.

If I'm correct, it drops the RPM that the T-Boost kicks in. I believe that the stock setting is around 6000rpm and the kit allows it to kick in at 3000rpm. If you've ever ridden a V-Max you'll know that up around 6-7000 rpm, that thing just gets up and goes... If you thought you had to hang on before, you better make sure you're crazy glued to that seat when that sucker kicks in...bennettoid wrote:so explain to me what it does.

Now what is the T-Boost? Simply put, it is a set of butterfly valves that allows two carbs to feed one cylinder, controlled by a servo. Hmmm that's like putting a rocket boost system on a bike like that...

Yeah, but I thought the point of waiting until 6000rpm was the fact that the engine doesn't need to breathe that freely at lower RPM's. It's like artificially activating VTEC in a Honda Civic earlier than designed. If you get "on the cams" before the fuel demands justify it, you're not doing yourself any favors.
I bought mine with a switch so I can feel the difference of it being on and off, you don't feel the v-boost kickin as hard @ 3k as you do at 6k.ZooTech wrote:Yeah, but I thought the point of waiting until 6000rpm was the fact that the engine doesn't need to breathe that freely at lower RPM's. since when is anything stock at its peak ability? stock is always the most conservative settings/design. same with bumping the psi on your turbos.ZooTech wrote:Yeah, but I thought the point of waiting until 6000rpm was the fact that the engine doesn't need to breathe that freely at lower RPM's. yamaha probally figured the motor would run longer if the boost didnt kick in untill 6k. or maybe that was the safest(flying off the seat effect) or who knows what they are thinking. but obviously it has a gain from kicking in at 3k.
