I've mentioned this bike before in this forum, but every year or so I get interested in it again and spend more time on the design.

That is what I thought, along with OUCH!!!!!!! THAT FLIPPIN" FRAME MEMBER JUST BURNT MY BLOODY INNER THIGH!!!!!

but wouldn't KX500 engines use a fat 2 stroke pipe?

Yes the expansion chamber would give it more horsepower. That being said, the KX500 doesn't need any more HP. The KX500 might be the most vicious bike ever made. I think even the CR500 is somewhat tame compared to it. The hit when the powerband kicks in on the KX500 is absolutely beastly. I know a kid that was doing a stand up wheelie and he gave it some more gas and it hit that brutal powerband. The powerband hit was so abrupt and brutal that the handlebar came back so fast and whacked him in the forehead so hard that it knocked him off the bike. He still has a scar on his forehead from the powerband abruptly pushing the handlebar into his forehead. :shock:
