Crash Test 2009 Chevy Malibu vs. 1959 Chevy Bel Air

Quite an interesting video... I think it will leave you surprised.

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It is the 50th anniversary for them so they decided to show how car safety has improved in the last 50 yrs.
The cars.. a 2009 Chevy Malibu and a beautiful mint condition 1959 Chevy Bel Air.
The results are dramatic.

That is pretty darn interesting... You'd think the 59 would win based on weight and available crush distance alone...

What a stupid stupid stupid waste of a classic car by the total morons at the IIFHS!

Crashing a car with six decades of immense safety improvement into a surviving car that was built 51 years ago when there were no safety features whatsoever? What were they trying to prove?

What's next? A boxing match between Muhammed Ali in his prime and Mini Me?

Unfreakingbelievable! :frusty:

Meh, it was a Bel Air 4 door post with skirts and two radio antenna on the rear.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I suppose it could've been worse, it could've been a 2dr hardtop Impala w/ a 348....

I've added this video to the Total Motorcycle YouTube Channel as well.

http://www.youtube.com/user/TotalMotorcycle

Does anyone know if there is a way to have subscribers "suggest a video to be added" via the http://www.youtube.com/user/TotalMotorcycle channel?
