What things did you do to store you bike this winter?

#1 Unread post by totalmotorcycle »

For those of us who live in the cold weather areas of the world, putting the motorcycle away for winter is just part of the riding season...

For me, I:

1. Take out the battery from the bike and store it inside the house with a trickle charger nearby.
2. Fill up the motorcycle's gas tank and put full stabilizer in it
3. Cover it up if it's outside

(4 & 5 if I'm ana)

4. Wipe/spray WD40 over the metal parts of the bike
5. Wax and polish the paint

So what things did you do to store you bike this winter?

I also run the Carbs dry. I have to pop off a vacuum line to do it.

I don't usually bother with the battery. It has a pigtail that I hang out for the occasional charge.

Happy Holidays,

I knew of a guy who put sheet metal screws into the tread of off-road tires for snow biking...

you know, aerostitch.com sells these little tire studs for street bikes and from what I've read work very well for snow and some ice.

Anyhow now that winter is supposedly ending I'll say that I haven't done anything to store the bike except put a bike cover on it and went for rides when there wasn't much ice or snow on the ground...

I read TMW forum and decided none of those things applied to me.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Spray non painted areas with a light coat of fogging oil. pay special attention to your wheels and spokes. They love to rust.
