Well, there are many people out there who just have the money to live however they want. I see plenty of 12-cylinder Ferraris and Porsche cayannes on the roads here in Italy - and fuel prices are over $6 (US) per gallon...

I don't fault 'em - It sure would be nice to have that kind of money!! But these people are far and away the minority here. If fuel prices keep going the way they are in the states, they'll soon be the minority in America too.
I've noticed the price of Gas/Petol has been going up quite a bit lately with oil again reaching near $100 a barel. Here in the UK it's £1.30, which is roughly $2.25 (CDN/USD) per litre. You don't see any big SUV's, big trucks, Hummers or muscle cars here and most engines are small (ie. 1, 1.2 or 1.4 litre) and diesel engines are very popular. In fact, you can choose as many as 10 different engines for a car model here! (ie, Ford Fiesta).

I've heard that gas prices in the US are past the $3.30 mark and are heading to the $5 mark in the summer of 2011....

It's interesting that this thread started in 2005 and after all these years it's still boggling to me why people own hummers or great big vehicles of any kind. But if we're talking about the new Dodge Challenger... well then I can make some exceptions...

ZOMBIE thread... Blast From the Past... :D

Talking about Hummers, I saw one on www.kijiji.ca for just $25,000 with 93k on it. Imagine, it would cost as much in gas as it is to buy used! (20l per 100km, say $1.50 ltr = $27,900 just for gas!)

Hey, I say if the Chinese don't want them then nobody's gonna want them. Plain and simple as that.

Anyone remember when Arnie had to upgrade 3 of his 4 hummers to bio-fuel, just so that he didn't look like a hypocrite standing up for "global warming"???

Whats funny is I read in a magazine (I believe it was car and driver) that showed a study. This study shows how from the moment a toyota Prious starts life (meaning from the first bolt applied) it costs $1.18/mile for its lifetime to keep it on the road. Guess what the Hummer was....

$0.84. Yup that big boat costs less to keep on the road than that toyota prius which I will NEVER buy.

and to back that up...

That is just one site with information. Take it as you want but I know how I am taking it (I refuse to buy anything toyota anyways). Look at the bottom two files :D. Funny how much cheaper the ford focus and Chevy cavelier are compared to the prius. 60 cents per mile wow. and my above numbers were wrong. And DAMN about the maybach. $16/ e-mile.

Hummer is dead and I don't even see any on the road anymore so I assume most of the used ones are dead as well? Who can afford the gas anyways? People that bought one really got screwed as you can't sell them as nobody wants one and if you do find a buyer, the depreciation is so high you take a pounding! :boxed:
