BC Day.
Phew, I think things are finally slowing down. And my computer is finally working ok.
I have most of my unpacking done but still have a few upgrades to do such as installing new faucets and light fixtures into the 2 bathrooms.
I got new light fixtures installed into the 2 hallways, one of the bedrooms and in the living room. Wow! The new lights make the place look so much better.
I still need to replace the lighting in the kitchen. It has 2 halogen light fixtures that cast very hot uneven light. They are awful. I have been looking but still have not found something I want to spend my money on to replace them. I'm sure I will find something soon.
Due to a lot of "circumstances", I have not done much riding yet this year. I did however, go for a 2 day trip up the coast this past weekend. My friend who just got his new bike came with me. He has a 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere that just came off the boat from Japan 2 weeks ago.
We left Saturday afternoon and caught a 4:30 ferry. The weather was hot and sunny and dry. It was so nice for a change to have warm dry weather. By the time the ferry delivered us to the Langdale terminal the clouds had rolled in. Half an hour into the ride I felt the first rain drops.

Cripes. Haven't we had enough rain already? Can't the weather gods send some to Africa for the drought stricken starving Africans?
So...change of plans....I had orginally planned to ride to Ruby Lake for dinner and then ride back to Madeira park where we would be staying over. But, since it had started raining we decided to stop a bit earlier.
We stopped at Secret Cove and had dinner at the Upper Deck Cafe. Luckily we were early enough they could seat us because we were not going to linger. I'd like to go there again, but now that I know they are a busy place I'd call ahead to make a reservation next time. Dinner was superb.....accompanied by a big glass of water and a glass of cranberry juice.
When we left the restaurant the rain had stopped. By the time we got to the end of the road leading out of the marina it was pouring rain.
So..I pulled over to get the rain liner for my jacket. The rest of the ride was on wet twisty roads in the pouring rain. (insert bad word here) So much for the leisurely exploring by bike to take pictures.
Oh well the day was cut short but we made it safe to our destination and had some tea with our hostess.
On sunday the sun was out in all its glory. We borrowed the car there and went to the Skookumchuck to walk the trail into the narrows. It is an hour walk through the forest to the water. We hung out on the rocks and took a few pictures and just enjoyed the fresh air and scenery. We walked back an hour to the car and then headed over to the Back Eddy pub in Egmont for a late lunch. We had lunch on the deck overlooking the water and boats.
It was such a treat to have warm dry weather for a change.
The ride home today was good. We left at 9 am to get the ferry. We stopped at Trout Lake for that quick picture above and a picture of me....to be posted later......and then continued to the ferry.
It was a nice, uneventful ride home.
I hope to get more organized to get some blogging and pictures on a regular basis again.
