It has been awhile since I was on TMW or any site for that matter. My computer gave up. I was without a computer for almost a month.
In that time I was packing and moving. I moved into my new place 2 and a half weeks ago. I still have a lot of unpacking and organizing to do because I have not been home very much.

I had a week of vacation on Vancouver island, then my second week of vacation was taken up with going to an eye doctor every day. I had developed some kind of corneal erosion syndrome that required drops every hour for a couple of days and then 4 times a day and monitoring by the doctor every day. My eyes are better now, but I need to use moisture drops frequently.

In the meantime I had to pack and get movers and bring my things out of storage and into my new place. I had a cleaning guy in to clean the carpets and furniture.
Then the hockey series was happening. I was following the games so my time was not going into organizing my place.
Go Canucks Go.

Then my guy went into the hospital for a week so my time was taken up by going over there after work and seeing to his apartment. Plants needed watering and fish needed feeding.

Friday night the kitchen drains clogged. Sigh...I had to leave the dishes until I could resolve that issue. I bailed what water I could and then opened the trap on the drain. Aside from the grey water in the drain, there was also gravel. Huh? I don't know what the former owner here used the kitchen sinks for to have gravel in the drains. My guess is an aquarium or he washed plant pots.

I got some drain cleaner and now the pipes are free flowing again. I now have a new plunger so if there is a next time, I will try the plunger before I resort to using drain cleaner.

I worked an extra shift at work yesterday and then came home and took my bike for a short ride. It's been a while.....now that I am in my new place and my bike lives where I do instead of being stored in a friend's garage, I'll be able to ride more.

Last weekend was a long weekend in Canada. I drove in my new car to Kamloops to visit my niece and her new baby. The Mitsubishi is a good highway car. I set the cruise control and enjoyed better gas mileage. It handled the hills with ease. I did not ride because I was taking a car full of toys and clothes for the baby. I'll ride next time.

The kettle has boiled so I will go and make a cup of tea and unpack a couple of boxes. :)

BC Day.

Phew, I think things are finally slowing down. And my computer is finally working ok.
I have most of my unpacking done but still have a few upgrades to do such as installing new faucets and light fixtures into the 2 bathrooms.

I got new light fixtures installed into the 2 hallways, one of the bedrooms and in the living room. Wow! The new lights make the place look so much better.

I still need to replace the lighting in the kitchen. It has 2 halogen light fixtures that cast very hot uneven light. They are awful. I have been looking but still have not found something I want to spend my money on to replace them. I'm sure I will find something soon.

Due to a lot of "circumstances", I have not done much riding yet this year. I did however, go for a 2 day trip up the coast this past weekend. My friend who just got his new bike came with me. He has a 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere that just came off the boat from Japan 2 weeks ago.

We left Saturday afternoon and caught a 4:30 ferry. The weather was hot and sunny and dry. It was so nice for a change to have warm dry weather. By the time the ferry delivered us to the Langdale terminal the clouds had rolled in. Half an hour into the ride I felt the first rain drops. :x Cripes. Haven't we had enough rain already? Can't the weather gods send some to Africa for the drought stricken starving Africans?

So...change of plans....I had orginally planned to ride to Ruby Lake for dinner and then ride back to Madeira park where we would be staying over. But, since it had started raining we decided to stop a bit earlier.
We stopped at Secret Cove and had dinner at the Upper Deck Cafe. Luckily we were early enough they could seat us because we were not going to linger. I'd like to go there again, but now that I know they are a busy place I'd call ahead to make a reservation next time. Dinner was superb.....accompanied by a big glass of water and a glass of cranberry juice.

When we left the restaurant the rain had stopped. By the time we got to the end of the road leading out of the marina it was pouring rain.

So..I pulled over to get the rain liner for my jacket. The rest of the ride was on wet twisty roads in the pouring rain. (insert bad word here) So much for the leisurely exploring by bike to take pictures.

Oh well the day was cut short but we made it safe to our destination and had some tea with our hostess.

On sunday the sun was out in all its glory. We borrowed the car there and went to the Skookumchuck to walk the trail into the narrows. It is an hour walk through the forest to the water. We hung out on the rocks and took a few pictures and just enjoyed the fresh air and scenery. We walked back an hour to the car and then headed over to the Back Eddy pub in Egmont for a late lunch. We had lunch on the deck overlooking the water and boats.
It was such a treat to have warm dry weather for a change.

The ride home today was good. We left at 9 am to get the ferry. We stopped at Trout Lake for that quick picture above and a picture of me....to be posted later......and then continued to the ferry.
It was a nice, uneventful ride home.

I hope to get more organized to get some blogging and pictures on a regular basis again.

I kept looking but did not see any. How about an oil tank instead?

No, it must be large, serving the community, and in the background. :pinch:
