For me, I find myself riding around 4-5,000rpm in the city and 5-6000rpm on the highway on my ZR750F (750cc). I of course like to goose it up to 9000-10,000 rpm sometimes if I'm in the "need for acceleration speed" mood. (my bike does have a 12,000 RPM limit)

But mostly I ride at a RPM that is smooth enough that it still has plenty of power to pass and isn't lugging the engine. I always seem to want a 6th gear on the highway in any of my bikes. haha.

Trophy and V-strom are both geared to be around 4500 between 70 and 80 mph in top gear. Both engines are basically snoozing at that speed, waiting for me to wake them up to do something fun.

Bonneville, I have no clue, since it doesn't have a tach! Haven't ridden my wife's F650GS enough to get a feel for normal RPMs.

Where's the WOT option? lol
No honestly it's around 4500-5000 on most bikes I've ever ridden to be comfortable.
On the 2 cylinder cruisers, it's usually around 3500-4000.

about 4600 at 60 in 6th gear..... I take it easy.
Around town I'll use a lower gear and stay just under 4000.
Its quieter if I don't do too low in RPM.

Funny enough when I had the Harley-Davidson Cruisers out I wanted to go beyond 5,500 RPM. haha. :D

Seems that without separate categories for type of engines its meaningless. Crusier/touring tend to run low where for the same speed a sport bike run alot higher.

Just my 2 cents. Just don't spend it all in one place :- )

I'm on a pretty old-fashioned air/oil cooled twin that has fairly good torque. I usually ride it at as low a rev range as is reasonable. But the engine's particularly sweet between 3-4k (maybe 4-5k if I'm gunning it a bit).

It's just a general survey, nothing specific. It does show where people like to ride on average. For me, funny enough as I pointed out, I ride my 750cc sport standard in the same RPM range I rode 3 Harley-Davidon's (cruiser, muscle bike and tourer) in. Maybe 4000 rpm is pretty ideal? But who would of guessed so many of us ride in the same range of RPM.
