Body Panel Removal 2003 ZZR

#1 Unread post by zzriderdan »

I have a 2003 ZZR 1200. I need some assistance on removing the body work. I've ridden open crusiers all my life so this machine is a first for me. Just some direction on where to start and what tools might I need? Thank you in advance.

Bike Bandit has a breakdown of all parts for that model.

John the intent of my question, or the answer I was looking for was "how" do I remove them. Like where do I start??? I appoligize for being vague. Thanks again!

You need a phillips headed screwdriver. Just below the front turnsignal I see a screw, plus two more behind and above it. There should be at least three along the bottom. And there's a couple in the front and maybe two on the bottom. Do you have a manual for the bike? What are you trying to do?

I'd grab a manual if you aren't sure of how to remove the body panels. Not for sure on the ZZR, but you'll probably also need a 4 and/or 6mm allen wrench.

The point is get a service manual for your bike. It's a valuable tool and the first thing I turn to for torque settings on bolts. Or dis-assembly instructions. The BOOK will tell you to remove the bottom pan if the bottom pan needs to come off while changing the oil. Or not.On my Concours I can drain all the oil out without dropping the pan, but the oil filter does require that the pan be dropped.
