Not really into Whiskey. Vodka is my drink of choice actually, even over beer.

Re: Beer!
I've had so many different beers over the years it is impossible to try and list them all. But I do have a few all time favourites; when I was in Germany there was a local brewery in the region I lived in that made an absolutely breathtaking pilsner that, unfortunately, I can't recall the name of. Memories get foggy over time.
I had a case of it delivered to my doorstep every Friday, it would be waiting for me there when I got home from work... 16 pop-top bottles in a handmade wooden crate. It was to die for.
I'm also fond of the Russian Baltika 5, but we can't get it here in Canada. We do, however, have Baltika 3 at the local booze store and that's good enough for me every once in awhile.
A case of the Polish Zywiec pilsner will find it's way into my house every once in awhile and of course there's always a few offerings from the local microbrewery, Neustadt Springs, in the fridge at any given time.
For vodka, Stolichnaya is my brand. I am part Russian, after all.
Laphroaig gets the nod when I want Scotch. I swear, you can taste the sheep's feet that trampled on the peat moss they used to filter the stuff with.
Canadian Club for whiskey. Jack Daniels if I'm in a mood for sour mash.
I think that about covers it.

No Colt 45?... no Mickey's?... and you say that you're a fan!
Seriously, try Yuengling. It may not be as exotic as others on your list, but they claim to be the oldest operating brewery in the U.S.

Re: Beer!
I'll ignore the first recommendation, I'm not much of a Miller Brewing Company fan so I'll skip the second one, but I have tried the Yuengling lager.ToTheBrimm wrote:No Colt 45?... no Mickey's?... and you say that you're a fan!

Re: Beer!
Be that as it may, it's still made in the Motherland and is the only Russkie swill I can get over here. Speaking of swill, don't ever eat the blade of buffalo grass inside a bottle of the Polish made Zubrowka. DAMHIK.JVRR wrote:Stolichnaya is owned by Pepsi.

Funny enough I had that in the Czech Republic last year.Gummiente wrote:A case of the Polish Zywiec pilsner ...

I haven't yet made it to Poland for a local brew, but I did have many local Czech beers.

Re: Beer!
Talking about sheep...
In the UK we get so many different micro-beers, I had a beer "made from Haggis" or so they claimed... ya, it sucked.

Re: Beer!
A lot of the "beers" you are talking about are what we Brits call lagers.
I happen to like both ~ Zywiec is also a favourite of mine! Storm Lager from Cornwall is pretty full on (might tell you that story another time)!
You should keep eyes open for Scottish beers ~ I grew up in Edinburgh where there were many breweries (mostly posh flats now). The smells of the brews used to waft over the town ... Not always pleasant on the way to school!
A couple of Scottish favourites would be Maclays (Ayrshire sw) & anything from the Orkney Isles eg Dark Island.
Regarding malt whisky ..... Be careful with those peat trampling analagies as Iam Hebridean on both sides with my maternal roots from Islay! Try BRUICHLADDICH & BUNNAHABHAIN both from Islay & peaty but smoooooth!!!
