When will the rain stop - Long Island?
New to the forum but I have been riding since I was about 6 or 7 rears old (46 now). I had not been riding much over the last few years until I picked up a KLR 650 last year and although it is a bit slow and slightly overweight I really enjoy riding that thing. I usually try to do weekend excursions to get off of LI. It is not very rider friendly around here and not many back roads.

The KLR650 is a rough, tuff, do-it-all bike that can take anything thrown at it (Gadget here will tell you that). Do you have a photo of it?
Welcome!

Re: When will the rain stop - Long Island?
I will post one this weekend. I am at work right now.
I have done allot of upgrading and have added progressive shocks and springs, ricor intiminators, subframe upgrade, barkbusters, rox risers, nerf bars, skid plate, aluminum panniers, fmf mufler, jet kit, odyssey battery, led tail lights and turn signals, center stand, adjustable lowing links (which I had to raise back to stock because the center stand scraped a couple times), adjustable side stand, voltmeter, moose racing foot pegs. I know I am missing some. I still have to do the doohickey upgrade and thermobob but I am waiting for some down time.

That is a lot of upgrades! It must be a night and day difference to the stock version. After all the upgrades was it worth it over buying a more expensive dual sport to start out with?tbss1 wrote:I will post one this weekend. I am at work right now.

Re: When will the rain stop - Long Island?
This KLR is so easy to work on it will still be cheaper in the long run and I like setting it up just the way I like it. Since I have never driven any of the more expensive dual sports I don't have anything to miss. The magna is still basically stock since I purchased it in 1994. I did add a windshield and highway pegs.

Re: When will the rain stop - Long Island?
Welcome, sorry about the rain and that it is not rider friendly, I can't do anyting about either problem but the rain will stop (temporarly) unfortunately people will still be jerks. I eventually want to get a good used KLR 650.
